Many high schoolers despise or even hate study after they leave school; the reason of it is multifaceted, however, the learning environment and the way knowledge is conveyed in school are certainly to blame. Educators should take immediate action to address the attitudinal issue so that students graduate with life-long learning interests.

The top reason of school leaver’s negative manner towards learning is undoubtablethe atmosphere of school. By which I mean both physical and supervisory settings. It is almost a consensus that all educational institutions are prisons which block the innovation and motivation of real leaning in one cubic meter, or even strangle the sprouting of them. Just think about the normal schools in China: every cubic school building is stuffed with block-shaped classroom and decorated withstandardized squares (window, blackboard and desktop); is there any difference compared with imprisonment? Not to say the stone faced deans who know no flexibility and empathy. If these are still endurable, the stiff lecture isindubitably the chief culprit of positive learning attitude. This can be well illustrated by most of the disciplines in China – cramming math and science,memorizing literature and language arts, brainwashing history and politics- nowonder students are fed up with study. If education is all about listening to teachers and aiming at high score, school is doomed to become a place where the love of learning died.
